“Jumper,” starring Hayden Christensen and Samuel L. Jackson, was released in theaters nationwide on Thursday, Feb. 14. The film also stars Rachel Bilson, who plays Christensen’s on-screen love interest. As fans of the two actors might know, Bilson and Christensen are also involved off-screen. I am unsure as to whether or not this is a publicity stunt or not, as Bilson seems to have a pattern of dating co-stars. She previously dated Adam Brody, who she starred with in “The O.C.” Regardless, as a publicist of either actor, I would encourage the relationship, as it generates more buzz for their film. As press covers their relationship, talk will most likely also shift to their movie. Fans will want to see Bilson’s and Christensen’s relationship play out on screen in “Jumper.” Here is a picture of them, courtesy of Styletraxx.com.

More people will watch “Jumper” because they are invested in the couple, they think that they are “cute” together. A similar thing happened when “The O.C.,” was still running, as Brody and Bilson played a couple both on and off screen. People watched because they cared about the two actors together. This relationship is good for both Bilson’s and Christensen’s careers because people care so much about celebrity couples, and that will make them care about their current projects. All eyes will be on them because of the fact that they are in the same movie and also happen to be dating. While it may be a genuine relationship, it seems like the perfect way to generate more buzz and publicity for “Jumper.”

Hello! This is my first post on my brand new blog about PR in Entertainment. I am very excited about this project, I believe it is going to be a fun and rewarding experience. Let’s get started with the entertainment news, shall we?
As faithful Harry Potter fans should know, the sixth Harry Potter film, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince will not be released in theaters until Nov. 21. However, there is already buzz on the internet about it. Thisisgloucestershire.co.uk reported that filming for the sixth film has begun. There are pictures of the set as well as the various actors, including Dan Radcliffe, who plays Harry Potter; Tom Felton, who plays Draco Malfoy; and Alan Rickman, who plays Professor Snape in the film. Here is a picture from the website of Rupert Grint, who plays Ron Weasley.

Even though the film is nine months away, I felt it was smart to start building buzz for it now. It is good to get people thinking about it. With the release date already set, fans can start marking their calendars and making countdowns. This way anticipation and excitement just builds and builds until the movie comes out. If I were the publicist I would not wait too long before pitching to Entertainment Tonight for them to do “An Exclusive First Look” at the film, or to various magazines to do a sneak peek article. Since the Harry Potter franchise is immensely popular, fans will want to know how filming is going, how the current director’s style differs from the last one (although David Yates, the current director, directed the fifth film as well), and of course, how Rupert Grint’s hairstyle has changed from the last film.
Even though I would not start heavily promoting it now, a little bit of promotion does not hurt, and reminds everyone that another Potter film is on its way. I know I can’t wait until Nov. 21.
